Unusual Gifts for Christmas

Although the summer months are still here, it is not that far away from Christmas; however much you don’t want to be reminded of this fact. That means that you are going to have to start thinking about buying Christmas gifts again for your loved ones. If you are like me then you hate trying to think of something different to buy for the people in your family or for your friends. I feel as though I give the same thing every year or every couple of years. I seem to just recycle the same type of gift but maybe in different colours. For example, I have noticed that every year I seem to buy a scarf or socks for my brother but in a different design or colour. So I started thinking that I would look for some unusual gifts this year and this is what I have come up with:

  • Because most of my family and friends are a bit tight for money this year with the recession and all that, we have decided to limit the amount we spend on each other which could make it harder to buy because you are limited in what you can spend. But I thought that maybe I could consider making up my own unusual gift sets instead of buying them ready made which is what I normally do. For the kids, I could make up baskets with their favourite sweets and a few little toys. I know they would like this as every year; they seem to spend more time playing with the little things they get in their stocking instead of their big toys from Father Christmas.

  • Instead of buying socks or a scarf for my brother I was thinking of buying him a voucher for the cinema or for bowling. I know he would appreciate this as he is a bit of a movie buff.

  • I really want to find unusual gifts for my sisters as every year they get a gift set that I buy from our local gift store but they always put a bit more effort into what they buy for me. So I was thinking that I could buy them a voucher for a spa day because that way they can head off for a day without the kids to relax and unwind. I’m sure they will appreciate this. I have found that there are many spas doing great deals which are not half as expensive as I thought they would be.

  • I was a bit stuck for ideas for my friends so I was thinking I could buy them a month’s worth of lottery tickets. That way they could be in with a chance of winning something big. I don’t think I’ll be too happy if they win the jackpot however!
