Getting Parquet Flooring Installed

When it comes to flooring these days, we have plenty of options. We can go for carpet, vinyl, laminate or real wood flooring. However, there is one type of flooring that will never go out of fashion and that is parquet flooring. This type of flooring is stunning to look at and continues to look stylish no matter how long you have it. There are a range of styles to choose from when it comes to parquet flooring and you also have plenty of options in terms of colours. It is these reasons that make parquet flooring so popular.
If you are thinking of getting parquet flooring installed then there are a number of things which must be considered including:
The moisture level of the floor on which the parquet will be installed needs to be less than five percent so this is something that you will have to check. You also need to make sure that the floor you want to lay your parquet flooring on is level. This is extremely important as it will prevent the floor from having gaps and looking odd.
It is important to do your research when choosing the glue for the parquet flooring. You will either need bitchem glue or ms polymer glue such as sika. On old flooring where bitchem has already been used, it might be better to choose bitchem glue. One reason why fitters will choose bitchem is that it tends to be far less expensive than ms polymer glue.
When it comes to actually laying the floor, it is best to try and avoid gaps but the reality is that this is never completely possible. Once the entire floor has been laid, filler will be used to fill in these gaps so it is not a huge problem if there are any.
The parquet flooring needs to be sanded once it has been completed and then the saw dust is mixed with a resin for filling in any gaps. This is done a couple of times.
A primer is applied and left to dry for a few hours before lacquer is applied and left overnight. The next day the floor needs to be finely sanded again and then another coat of lacquer applied. It is possible to repeat this process up to seven times because this will ensure that the finish lasts much longer.
